My Trust Jar

Sometimes we have things on our minds that we just can't figure out.
Instead of carrying those worries around with us, let's practice giving them to God!
The Trust Jar is a simple activity to help your child remember:
I can pray about it, give it to God, and trust Him with what I don't understand.
What You'll Need
- A jar, cup, small box, or container
- Small pieces of paper or sticky notes
- Pens, pencils, crayons, or markers
- Stickers or decorations (optional)
Let's Make Your Trust Jar!
Step 1: Decorate your jar.
Let your child make it their own!
Add stickers, ribbon, drawings, or a label that says:
MY TRUST JAR
You can even add Proverbs 3:5–6 to the jar.
Step 2: What's on your mind?
Ask your child:
“Is there anything you're worried about, nervous about, or don't know how it's going to work out?”
It could be:
- School
- Making friends
- A test
- Their family
- Trying something new
- Something they're afraid of
- Something they have been praying for
Have them write or draw one thing on each piece of paper.
Step 3: Pray about it.
Before putting the paper in the jar, take a moment to pray together.
It doesn't have to be a long prayer.
“God, I'm giving this to You. I don't know what's going to happen, but I know I can trust You. Help me not to worry and help me remember that You are with me. Amen.”
Step 4: Put it in the jar.
Now comes the important part.
Once you've prayed about it, place the paper inside the Trust Jar.
Tell your child:
“We prayed about it. Now we're going to trust God with it.”
Whenever they start worrying about it again, remind them that it's already in the jar.
They can pray again, but they don't have to pick the worry back up and carry it all by themselves.
Come Back to Your Jar
Don't throw those papers away!
Every once in a while, sit down together and look through your Trust Jar.
You may discover that something your child was once worried about has already worked out.
When that happens, take the paper out and celebrate it together.
You can even write:
GOD HELPED ME! 💛
on the back.
Then take a moment to thank God.
Over time, your Trust Jar won't just hold the things you're trusting God with.
It will also become a reminder of the times you saw God help you along the way.
Remember:
Pray about it.
Put it in the jar.
Trust God with it.
You don't have to have it all figured out.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5
