The "Wait & See Jar"
korean harris
Purpose:
To help kids (and parents!) learn that waiting on God is an active season—not a wasted one.
What You’ll Need:
-
A mason jar or small container
-
Strips of paper or index cards
-
Pens or markers
-
A Bible
Instructions:
-
Set the Scene:
Gather your family and talk about a time you had to wait for something—like a birthday, a trip, or a prayer to be answered. Share how it felt and what helped you stay hopeful. -
Write It Down:
Have each family member write down something they are waiting on God for. It could be a prayer, a hope, a dream, or something simple like more patience at school. -
Add Scripture:
On the back of each paper, write a scripture about waiting, faith, or trusting God. (You can use Isaiah 60:22, Psalm 27:14, or Lamentations 3:25.) -
Put it in the Jar:
Fold each paper and place it in the jar. Call it your “Wait & See Jar.” This jar represents all the things your family is trusting God for. -
Weekly Check-In:
Pick one day a week to open the jar and pray over one or two of the papers as a family. Thank God in advance for how He’s working—even if you can’t see it yet.
Optional Twist:
Decorate the jar together with stickers, markers, or a label that says, “Faith in the Waiting.”
Why This Matters:
This activity reminds your kids that waiting isn’t passive—it’s an invitation to trust God more deeply. And when the answers come, they’ll know it was Him who made it happen.
